Orphanage
The Mana Foundation is growing: we were able to acquire another piece of land to expand our site. There, an orphanage will be built — a place where children can find security, love, and opportunity. Together with Bishop Jimmy, we aim not only to provide shelter but also to ensure access to education and medical care. The orphanage will accommodate around 40 children — from infancy to adulthood.

In the future, we will be heavily reliant on sponsorships to provide the children with a safe home and continuous care. We will introduce the children living in the children’s home here, so that every contribution is directly visible.

Water Project
We plan to build a solar-powered deep well with an elevated 30,000-liter storage tank to continuously supply the bakery, the Fort Portal community, and surrounding agricultural areas with clean water.
The system uses solar energy to ensure reliable water access year-round — independent of the unstable electricity supply.
Over 5,000 people in the community will directly benefit from this project. It will not only provide basic water supply but also promote health, education, the local economy, and sustainable agriculture.
Background
Fort Portal, the “Gateway to the Moon Mountains” in western Uganda, is nestled between the Rwenzori Mountains. Despite its natural beauty, the city faces major challenges — especially in accessing clean water. Many families must travel long distances daily to unsafe sources. Women and girls often bear this burden for hours, time that could otherwise be spent at school or work. The lack of clean water also leads to health issues such as skin diseases and waterborne infections.
Café Ohana
Construction of a café on the main site has already begun. Here,
guests of the guesthouse, visitors, and tourists will be able to enjoy our
coffee and bakery treats. The café will be a place for exchange and
community. At the same time, it will create new jobs and additional
funding opportunities for the NGO.
Bakery Expansion
We plan to expand our bakery with professional baking equipment
from Germany. This will create additional jobs and training opportunities for women as
a source of income. Furthermore, in cooperation with Germany’s first
professional baking school in Olpe, we plan to introduce regular
Austauschprogramme für SchülerInnen und LehrerInnen.
